Researchers at The School of Health (2024) note that the combination of diverse fibre types and polyphenols from a wide range of plants creates a compounding benefit, each one supporting a richer, more resilient microbiome.
The Whole Food Difference
One important distinction worth making here: processed plant foods don't carry the same benefits.
